Dammit Jim I Am A Drummer Not A ContractorOk, I went into this project of soundproofing with much excitement. That excitement quickly turned into aggravation as the progress went along and was beset with delays, minor structural issues and unseen issues at every turn. I had to back up and punt several times to get this project done. And this was merely a simple skinning so to speak of the interior walls with sheetrock and Green Glue. Since I had never done sheetrocking before it was quickly apparent, even with my helpers, that it is a bit more involved than I had imagined. My window of having this done had gone and went and I was frustrated.

Home Recording Studio Soundproofing FrustrationI can now see the light at the end of the tunnel, the walls are done and the Green Glue is curing, I read it may take several weeks for it to reach full effect.

Once the panel has been hung and secured in place, the soundproofing Compound will begin curing and will reach peak performance within 30 days. This is important: if you have just applied the Green Glue Noiseproofing Compound and drywall and are not hearing a perceivable increase in performance, please do allow 30 days and then evaluate the change.

The new colors are up and lighting fixtures are back in place. I also took the time to improve the electrical outlets and bring them up to modern specs and get rid of the very old and ugly almond colored plugs. I must say it is looking sweet.

Home Recording Studio Soundproofing JoyI just have to finish getting the trim put in over the next few days and get the carpet cleaned. Then it is back in business.

I learned through the process that soundproofing, even the limited amount that I have done, is a challenge. I can tell it is better from the outside of the room but will really know once the kit is set back up this week and the Green Glue has had time to cure. This was as far as I was willing to go with budget and my neighbors.

Until then….

More to follow..... Keep On Drumming!!!
